Cardigan Bay Cottages

If you choose your holiday cottage in Cardigan Bay you’ll find yourself in a very Special Area of Conservation set up to preserve this spectacular part of Wales. The shoreline boasts stunning golden beaches along its entire length and the sea is home to porpoise, grey seal or bottlenose dolphins as well as seabirds such as the inquisitive puffin, if you’re lucky you may see them all!

The crescent shaped bay is a natural inlet on the Irish Sea, the largest in Wales, between Bardsey Island, Gwynedd, in the north and Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire, in the south, and boasts a plethora of things to do and see. By using our extensive feature list your property can be near the coast with a sea view, rural but near a village, have a private hot tub or enclosed garden if taking children or pets, the choice really is yours.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be in heaven and can choose from walking, cycling and watersports such as sailing, kayaking, coasteering, windsurfing and fishing. The 60 mile coastal path follows the spectacular and varied coastline of the bay and can be split into sections as well as circular walks venturing inland, starting and finishing at one of the many seasidetowns or villages. The whole area is very dog friendly as are many of the cafes and pubs along the routes if you are taking your four legged friend.

There are many stunning beaches so a great choice for family and dog friendly holidays all year round. Cwmtydu Beach, once a smugglers cove, is now mainly a shingle beach and open to dogs throughout the year, it is known to be good for spotting dolphins and seals plus it has a cafe! Penbryn Beach, owned by the National Trust, is almost a mile long with fine golden sand and shallow water, perfect for a splash in the sea and a picnic on a hot sunny day.

There are many seaside resorts to start your day such as Fishguard, Aberaeron, Tywyn and Barmouth, all with unique shops, restaurants and pubs offering a very warm welcome and traditional food and drink to sample. Cardigan is an ancient town on the estuary of the River Teifi with an unspoilt and rich heritage as well as a thriving festival, events and arts and craft culture.

Cottage rentals around Cardigan Bay will open your eyes to a lovely area with great access to the coastal paths, towns and villages whether you are venturing north, south or inland.
