A good starting point would be the National Park Visitor centre at Balmaha where you can get your bearings and learn all about the wonderful places to visit and the many outdoor pursuits available within the region.
The mountains, lochs, woods and coastal areas are perfect walking territory plus a superb variety of wildlife, both here and in the adjacent Queen Elizabeth and Argyll Forest Park. Wildlife watching is popular throughout the year and Park Rangers organise a host of activities for those wanting to learn more about the local wildlife. You may spot badgers, pine martins, red squirrels, owls and both red and roe deer, ospreys are also summer visitors to the area.
With a host of charming towns and villages also waiting to be discovered plus the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow a short distance away, this is a holiday destination with a lot to offer. The traditional food and drink can be enjoyed across the region and that not to mention a trip to a whiskey distillery to have ‘a wee dram’.
The Loch Lomond Water Bus Service is a great way to explore the loch and can be joined at various points around the shores. Many water sports are available including kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and fishing.
