Norfolk Broads Cottages

Formed by the flooding of peat workings many years ago the Norfolk Broads are now a place of rare beauty and captivating light where moody skies and stunning countryside will never fail to delight. Wildlife enthusiasts couldn’t wish for a better place and with a great choice of holiday cottages in the Norfolk Broads you will never be far from sublime nature and glittering waterways.

By using the extensive feature list you can easily find your perfect one, perhaps an enclosed garden if taking young children or pets, part of our heritage collection or a private hot tub, the choice really is yours.

The Broads are in both Norfolk and Suffolk and the National Park includes 125 miles of lock free waterways amidst marshland fields, feathery reed beds and woodland. You’ll find pretty villages and market towns on or near the water’s edge with welcoming shops and gastro pubs offering a warm welcome and traditional fayre.

This is the only national park with a city and Norwich is a perfect day out with a medieval Romanesque Cathedral, two imposing gates and a Saxon market place. The city successfully combines modern with historic and has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene.

Vibrant Wroxham is considered the centre of the Broads and has a bustling centre as well as a marina to pick up a boat cruise or hire day boats. Not far away is Wroxham Barns with a great selection of craft studios, junior farm and soft play area, children’s funfair and mini adventure golf plus a great restaurant. Horning is an historic village on the River Bure with waterside pubs, shops, restaurants, tea rooms and boat trips; on the outskirts is the Horning Ferry and Ferry Inn, both well worth a visit.

For a bit of sea air Winterton-on-Sea and Great Yarmouth are lovely coastal resorts or visit Happisburgh, with the oldest working lighthouse on the Norfolk Coast and possibly the first known settlement in Northern Europe.

There’s some lovely walking with many well signposted circular walks showcasing some of the best scenery Norfolk has to offer. Try the Angles Way, the Wherryman’s Way, Beccles Marsh or Barton Broad Walk, there is something to suit all abilities. To get a better view the highest point is Beacon Hill near West Runton at a very achievable 338 ft.

This is a perfect place to explore by foot, car or boat, a real adventure with hidden places at every turn and it’s easy to find peace and quiet in your cottage rental on the Norfolk Broads.
