The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park was established in 1952 mainly because of its spectacular coastline, some of the best in the world. It is one of 3 National Parks in Wales the other 2 being Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons.
With a wonderful choice of holiday cottages along the Pembrokeshire Coast you should be able to find your perfect one. Use the extensive feature list to find just what you’re looking for such as sea view, enclosed garden if taking young children or dogs or perhaps a pub within walking distance, the choice really is yours.
The whole area covers 243 square miles and includes rugged cliffs, golden sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and the inland Presili Hills, so perfect to get away from it all in your cottage rental on the Pembrokeshire Coast. The stunning coastal path is a designated National Trail, 186 miles long mainly along cliff tops but with lots of ups and downs along the way and a wonderful variety of wildlife to look out for. You’ll pass through Stackpole owned by the National Trust with arguably some of the best coastline in the world and a lovely cafe on the harbour by the car park.
Take a boat trip to one of the seven islands, each with their own special charm and character. On some you’ll see the inquisitive puffins or seals with their pups at certain times of the year, on Caldey you can visit the limestone caves or Cistercian Abbey and Skomer, the largest island, is a national nature reserve of international importance for its sea birds.
All the Pembrokeshire beaches lie within the National Park and many have been awarded blue flag status at some time. There are 39 beaches recommended by the Marine Conservation Society and over 50 beaches welcome dogs. Some of the more popular bathing/family beaches do have dog restrictions in summer and there are lots of hidden away coves to have picnics on the beach. Typical seaside resorts like Tenby and Saundersfoot will bring back many happy memories for many.
As well as walks and beaches there are some lovely towns and village with pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants to visit. Don’t miss St Davids, Britain’s smallest city with lovely individual shops and a city walk to discover the history and heritage plus a fabulous cathedral.
