The famous and much loved Yorkshire Dales are part of the largest county in the UK. An amazing mix of landscape, history, culture, home cooked cuisine and locally brewed ale. With such a diverse area, so much to do and see you’ll it find it hard to beat.
The locals are famous for being friendlier, they say the air is cleaner and the beer is better so why not come along and see for yourself plus there’s a great choice of holiday cottages in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park was designated in 1954, it covers 841 square miles and its boundaries have been recently extended by 24% to include parts of Lancashire and Cumbria. The National Park doesn’t cover the whole of the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale AONB being one exception. Cottage rentals in the Yorkshire Dales can be rural but walking distance to a pub, have an enclosed garden if taking young children or pets or be part of our luxury collection, the choice really is yours.
There’s a wonderful variety of walks and places to visit in the Dales. With lovely strolls along rivers and through deep dales, patchworks of meadows and fields marked with the characteristic dry stone walls, then onwards over heather moorland to low lying hills or perhaps up to the top of one of the well-known 3 peaks, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside or Ingleborough.
Wensleydale is one of the main draws for those looking to explore the heart of the Dales. One of the largest Dales it offers a wealth of attractions such as Aysgarth Falls, Hardraw Force and of course its famous cheese! The lush valley of Wharfedale offers plenty of scenic beauty and easy access to Leeds and Harrogate for those seeking more vibrant charms and a busier experience of the Dales.
Many walks start and end in picturesque villages such as Ingleton, with an outdoor heated swimming pool, Malham with its famous cove and Grassington with its famous Dickensian Christmas Market. Add to this steam railways, viaducts, caves, waterfalls, microbreweries and local food producers, the list is endless.
Fountains Abbey, a World Heritage Site, is a wonderful day out, enjoy the dog friendly Studley Park then enjoy walking around the abbey and finish off with a trip into the nearby cathedral city of Ripon, on the easterly edge of the national park.
