The lovely open plan living/dining room at Howbeck Cottage is furnished with comfy sofas, whilst the galley-style modern kitchen boasts great appliances and that all important coffee machine! The stylishly furnished bedrooms ensure a good night’s sleep in the sumptuous beds with crisp white linen. Outside, the enclosed garden and large patio is a sun trap, which is the perfect place to sit and relax, perhaps with a glass of wine or two, taking in the evening sun and star filled dark skies, reminiscing over your day’s activities.
Howbeck Cottage is set quietly on the fringes of the small Cumbrian village of Hesket Newmarket, nestling in the Caldbeck Fells on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. Hesket Newmarket is probably most famous now for its micro-brewery and community owned Hub pub where you can enjoy one of its famous beers. The village also has a village shop and post office. Nestled in a tranquil and peaceful location, Howbeck Cottage is perfect for couples or friends who like to get out and explore.
With beautiful walks right from your door, you can head to some of the quieter fells of the Lake District National Park (Northern Fells). Surrounded by a maze of quiet country lanes you may prefer two wheels! (the cottage is located on the Reivers cycling route.) The Lake District National Park is renowned for its stunning scenery and from Howbeck Cottage you can explore it all. Keswick, surrounded by lakes and mountains, is a 30-minute drive away where you can enjoy a stroll through the lovely market town with its many outdoor and independent shops, friendly cafés, pubs and restaurants. Of course, no visit to the Lake District National Park is complete without a boat cruise on one of its famous lakes, where you can discover the stunning natural landscapes on a cruise along Lake Windermere, Derwentwater or Ullswater, all within a short drive of Howbeck Cottage. Beach 21 miles.
