Whitby is surrounded by spectacular scenery of the North York Moors which you can enjoy by taking either the Esk Valley train that takes you to Middlesbrough stopping at the pretty villages along the way, or the excellent North York Moors steam train that will take you from Whitby to the lovely market town of Pickering stopping off at Goathland otherwise known as ’Heartbeat Country’. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit.
