Garden Cottage feels as if it has stepped out of a beautiful novel, you can tell that there’s a lot of love in the cottage and it is there for everyone to fall in love with too.
it is a stone-built house that has underfloor heating, a lovely living room on your left as you enter, and on your right is the dining room followed by the pool room with French doors looking out onto the garden. The kitchen can be accessed from the dining room and also the pool room, then off the kitchen is the drying room/utility room. Upstairs is the two bedrooms, one is a double-bedded room and the other twin beds. The bathroom is in the middle of the first-floor landing. The garden to the back of the cottage is enclosed and there you do not require your dog to be on the lead but definitely in the front garden/grounds as there are deer and other wild animals that enjoy the garden too. The nearest train station is behind the cottage.
Many of our guests spend a whole week out walking as there are so many walks to enjoy from the cottage, from climbing the 10 Munroes nearby to gentle riverside walks. From the cottage it is possible to take the Coulin pass over to the Torridon mountain range which is spectacular and there are plenty of coastal walks locally. The nearby Lair river has picturesque waterfalls. There are many possible trips from the cottage, the Isle of Skye is around 45 minutes away, Eileen Donan castle is about 45 minutes, the stunning Applecross Peninsula is also approximately 45 minutes away, over the dramatic mountain pass Bealach na Bà, which has wonderful views to Skye and the Cullin Hill from the top and a stunning sandy beach just north of the village. There are also opportunities to climb, cycle, kayak and fish locally. The local gardens of Attadale are 15 minutes away and you can also visit the world class gardens at Inverewe which is around an hour away. The Brochs at Glen Elg, well preserved remains of Ironage fortified dwellings are also well worth a visit. The National Nature reserve at Beinn Eighe overlooks Loch Maree and is well worth a visit as is the Corrieshalloch Gorge towards Ullapool. There is also a small Golf course in Lochcarron the nearby village.
