The Beacon Fell summit is 873 feet above sea level and offers spectacular views of the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay. On a clear day it is even possible to see the Isle of Man. The Forest of Bowland is 23 miles away, here you will find mountain bike trail at Gisburn Forest, with green, blue, red and black routes available. Glide easily along the mellow trail by Bottoms Beck, twist and shout through Park Wood, dance with your bike down Hully Gully or grit your teeth and rush down the Bigfoot slab, everyone should find something that will make them smile.
The world renowned Tolkein Trail starts and ends in nearby Hurst Green, meaning literary enthusiasts can discover the Ribble landscape that may have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. A dog friendly pub serving food is around a 10-minute walk from the cottage.
