Perhaps enjoy a walk through the woods to Dunollie Castle and Museum or a pleasant stroll along the Esplanade at sunset. There’s a kayaking centre which launches directly into Oban Bay and daily wildlife spotting boat trips from the Esplanade as well as a lovely sandy beach at Ganavan, just a mile’s drive or walk along the coastal road. At Glencruitten, on the outskirts of the town, there’s a hilly 18-hole golf course, an excellent riding centre and some longer walks through Glencruitten Estate. The area around Oban has so many outdoor activities, including diving, sailing, kayaking, horse riding, golf, mountain biking and fishing. Glencoe and Aonach Mhor in Fort William are easily accessible and offer popular walking, mountain biking, climbing and skiing.
