Designed to good specifications by the owner, Alpine Lodge really does feel like a different kind of getaway. Wood finished throughout it sits prettily within the 275-acre peaceful Pentney Lakes. Each of the ground floor bedrooms has its own en-suite with a full-size bath, shower cubicle and toilet, making this the perfect escape for couples looking to get away together. Each bedroom has direct access onto to the veranda too, which means on warmer days, it really is possible to bring the outside in. This cleverly designed property is the kind of place that you stay in and socialise together, to relax, unwind, catch up on some boxset viewing on the huge Flatscreen TV, snuggle up by the wood burner and raise a few glasses. The first floor has been created to provide just that and goes up into the eaves, creating an even bigger sense of space and really adding the wow factor. There are also east and west facing balconies perfect for sunrises and sunsets too, one of which has lake views.
The site itself is beautifully appointed to create a sense of calm and, as the name suggests, it is home to seven lakes. It is a haven for all water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers, fishermen and with great activities available include cycling, water sports, fishing, golf, walking, a water-skiing school, boating and a banana boat ride, all bookable and payable on-site at the Water-Skiing Club. There is a privately-owned bar and restaurant 110 yards from the lodge, near the entrance to the site, and for younger guests, a children’s play area can be found opposite the bar.
Those looking to explore will find an area simply packed with sites of historical import and you can even be at the coast in under half an hour too. That is of course if you can tear yourself away from Alpine Lodge. You’ll make some very special memories here and are sure to be back to make some more.
