The living/dining room of Anchor Cottage is located on the first floor to take advantage of the views, and two balconies enable you to drink in the views over the River Medina and out towards The Solent, watching the comings and goings of the yachts and ferry. A local shop is close to hand, and facilities for eating out include a family restaurant overlooking the marina, as well as Indian and Italian restaurants. For a quiet day by the sea, the sand and shingle beach of East Cowes is about ½ mile away, where you can relax, or for a faster pace of life you can take a short ride across the water to the town of Cowes. With its wider range of shops and facilities, this bustling sailing town is alive with activity. Many tourist attractions abound on the island, and suggested places to visit include Osborne House (Queen Victoria’s family home), Carisbroke Castle, 7 miles and Calbourne Water Mill, 12 miles. Children are welcome but please supervise them at all times, as it is a waterside location. Beach ½ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
