You can walk or cycle along the canal into Llangollen, via the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, or head in the other direction towards another of Thomas Telford’s famous aqueducts and viaduct at Chirk.
Located within a conservation area, Chirk is a charming little town and offers a variety of takeaways, pubs, tea rooms, an award-winning Indian restaurant, small supermarket, bakers, butchers, greengrocers, pharmacy and a post office, as well as a couple of churches and a local library which offers free internet access.
