There are lovely, peaceful walks direct from the doorstep and local footpaths and trails to explore. Worsted village centre has a pub serving good food and a superb 14th-century church, full of historic and architectural interest. Excellent sandy beaches Happisburgh, Mundesley and Bacton are within 20 minutes drive. The bustling market town of North Walsham is a 5-minute drive, with a good selection of shops, supermarkets, a bank, a weekly market, a bowling alley, a leisure centre with a swimming pool, restaurants, and cafés.
Wroxham, capital of the Norfolk Broads National Park, is 15 minutes’ drive for daily boat hire and river trips, waterside restaurants, cafés and shops. Also having a train station with links to Norwich city, 14 miles, for excellent shopping centres, theatre, market, castle museum, cathedral, cafés and restaurants. It is also home to the Bure Valley Steam Railway, where you can take a nostalgic 18-mile trip by steam on Norfolk’s longest narrow-gauge railway. It runs between Wroxham and the historic market towns of Aylsham, with wayside halts serving the picturesque Broadland villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall, where you can hop off and on to explore by foot.
The traditional seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham boast an array of attractions for all ages. Cromer, 11 miles, has promenade gardens and a pier, and Sheringham, 16 miles, is home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway. National Trust Felbrigg and Blickling Halls, and Sheringham Park are all within a 30-minute drive. A must for families is BeWILDerwood at Horning, a tree-top adventure woodland and boat trip, 7 miles, and Roar Dinosaur Adventure Park with both splash water park, and indoor and outdoor play at Weston Park, 20 miles. Sandy Beach is 7½ miles. Pub and restaurant 1 mile.
