Ardencaple No 2 is a ground floor annexe set in a quiet location in the ever-popular market town of Castle Douglas. All on the ground floor Ardencaple is a lovely little property with spacious bedrooms and a delightful sitting room with a door opening onto a private and sunny courtyard.
Castle Douglas, known as ‘the Food Town’, is a delightful small market town with an array of independent shops selling produce and quality gifts. The town also boasts many lovely pubs and restaurants which are all within a short stroll of Ardencaple No 2. The town has a lively community, and you may be lucky to visit during the summer during Civic Week where you can join in the activities throughout the week culminating in the Grand Parade at the end of the week. The rural communities in the local area hold many weekend events over the summer months and a Friday-to-Friday booking enables guests to experience at least one such during their stay.
If you want to explore more of this beautiful area there are attractions in abundance from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff tops. With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by there is something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust).
Close to the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, and central to 5 of the 7Stanes, at Kirroughtree Forest and Dalbeattie Forest, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers, both with some of the best technical single-track mountain bike trails in Scotland.
