Deep filled sofas provide the perfect spot on which to relax in the evening whilst an electric wood burner provides a warming ambiance. The kitchen sits along the hall. Retire in the evening to one of two cosy bedrooms: a double and twin room. The accommodation is completed by a shower room. Step outside and find a shared garden overlooking grass land which is grazed by sheep during the summer months. Each cottage has a private seating area where you can enjoy al fresco dining on an evening or just sit with a coffee and watch the wildlife; don’t forget to bring some binoculars to enjoy watching the barn owls that have made this area their home.
These holiday homes can be found at Barnby Farm on the edge of the Howardian Hills an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous as the home to Castle Howard of Brideshead Revisited and more recently Death comes to Pemberley. With a year round events programme a visit to this stately home is a must. The Howardian Hills, North Yorkshire Moors National Park and stunning Yorkshire Wolds offer miles of walking and cycling opportunities whilst the ancient and historic City of York is just a 15 minute drive away. Meander the cobbled streets, climb the towers in York Minster, take a relaxing cruise on the River Ouse or shop until you drop.
The options are endless and with some of the UK’s leading visitor attractions you’ll not be disappointed. The coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey are under an hour away whilst Malton, known locally as the ‘foodie capital’ of North Yorkshire is just up the road. Here you will find independent shops, delis and tea rooms offering delicious fayre. Make Barnby Barn 2 the base for your Yorkshire break.
