Beacon Cottage is a spacious, substantial detached house with a bright and light interior situated just a 2-minute walk from Dartmoor National Park on the edge of Ivybridge. This holiday property has the most magnificent, far-reaching views across the rolling countryside as far as the sea at Mothercombe beach on the horizon. Being just a 5-minute drive from the A38, Beacon Cottage is a lovely base for those wanting to explore the wider region. This is a lovely, family-friendly house, perhaps ideal for visiting relatives in the area, summer holidays, or a cosy winter break with the open fire in the living room and central heating. In the kitchen, there is an Aga, electric cooker and induction hob. In the garage, there is beach equipment, garden toys and games for you to enjoy your stay.
There is direct access onto Dartmoor National Park as the moorland behind the property is the start of the Two Moors Way, which walkers will just love with its stunning scenery and amazing views; the coastal walk is also nearby. Ivybridge, the nearest town, has an indoor swimming pool, leisure centre, good shopping area and supermarkets. Ivybridge railway station is just 1-mile from the property with easy connections to Plymouth. The local area is also well served by ample bus connections, visitors can park at the railway station (free all day), with a bus every half hour into Plymouth.
There are two lovely beaches within 10 miles, Mothercombe beach and Bigbury-on-Sea, which has a tractor that takes you to Burgh Island in low tides. There is riding available 2 miles away and golf 3 miles, with easy access to St Mellion Golf Club. There is a local fish restaurant located on the way to Bigbury-on-Sea, and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area even on a wet day, such as Dartmoor Zoo, Pennnywell Farm, Woodlands Family Theme Park, Holden Forest Park for bike riding and walking, Paignton Zoo, and Agatha Christie’s holiday residence, Greenway (National Trust) at Dartmouth, where you can get the ferry across and come back on the train.
The city of Plymouth, with its historic Barbican area, restaurants, bars, Hoe and waterfront, is a popular place to visit and is just 20 minutes away in the car. The rural market town of Totnes, with its eclectic array of shops, is about 30 minutes’ drive. Exeter airport is only 38 miles away, perfect for those travelling from further afield. Shops 1 mile.
