Beith is a spacious, well-presented, semi-detached cottage on the north of Skye, with fabulous views over The Minch onto Harris; Lewis and the Shiants Islands. The area is linked to the historic and romantic legend of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora MacDonald, who is buried in Kilmuir cemetery beside the Museum of Island Life. The Whitewave Activity Centre offering a wide range of activities including kayaking, archery, abseiling/mountain climbing and so much more, along with Duntulm Castle, are a short distance from Beith.
At the busy little ferry port of Uig, you can enjoy watching the changing seascape, see the local fishermen bringing in their catch, and the daily ferry for the Outer Isles come and go. You are able to take day trips on the ferry to the Uists or over to Harris, and local boat trips for puffin and whale spotting. From Uig you can also take the boat for full day trips out to St Kilda. Beith is very central to all amenities with a pub, restaurants, post office, petrol station, Uig Pottery, a well-stocked local shop and the Isle of Skye Brewery all close by. The enchanting geological formations of the Faerie Glen is a great place for children to explore and are only a short drive away. The dramatic landscape of the Quiraing with excellent hillwalking, The Old Man of Storr and The Staffin Museum with its collections of local geological and fossil specimens is a must see. There is so much to discover throughout the island with visits to historic sites, castles, brochs, gardens and whisky distillery to enjoy. Not forgetting boat trips, pony trekking, kayaking, amazing dramatic scenery, seascapes and sunsets, so come see and enjoy. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 6 miles.
