This historic fishing village which lies south of Stonehaven on the glorious east coast, toasts its unique culture with an annual Fish Festival, attracting locals and visitors from across the world. The festival celebrates the village’s famous shellfish and its prominence in the maritime industry and is well worth a visit. Up and down the coast are some superb sandy beaches and the area is a haven for wildlife with dolphins and seals regularly spotted in the waters and a huge variety of birds which inhabit the shoreline and inlets. The village itself boasts a very good inn serving food and ales with plenty more good eating places in the near vicinity. It is a great location for touring Angus and south Aberdeenshire, inland are great walking routes in the Angus Glens along with plenty of other leisure pursuits including golfing, horse riding and river fishing.
