On Dartmoor, there are plenty of walks for all ages and abilities to enjoy this stunning and dramatic area as well as some pretty villages with pubs and tea rooms. Towards the coast, both the North Cornwall and Devon coastlines are within reach. There are many fine beaches and coves including Saunton, Woolacombe, Westward Ho!, Widemouth and Bude. A trip to Lundy Island can be arranged from Bideford pier. There are numerous places of interest close by including the lake at Roadford, Meldon Quarry, Lydford Gorge (National Trust), R.H.S gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. Visit the last castle to be built in England at Castle Drogo (National Trust). There is golf at Okehampton and Ashbury, or you can hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail and Granite Way. The railway station in Okehampton runs a daily service of trains to Exeter and other local stations. Beach 29 miles. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 1 mile.
