Welcome to Bryher, a second floor apartment in north Cornwall with parking on site. It sits across the Camel Estuary from the fishing village of Padstow made famous by the chef Rick Stein. The property sleeps up to four guests and is well equipped to make it a home from home.
The village shop offers fine wines and cheeses; you can buy fresh pastries and bread from the local bakery; the local butcher offers an excellent selection of meat, and the fishmonger has freshly caught fish from the local fishing boats. With so much local produce available you may not want to eat out and prefer to eat at home.
Situated within walking distance of sandy beaches, Rock beach is 1½ miles away and when the tide goes out, it leaves behind small rock pools, great for children to explore. You can catch the ferry to Padstow from here. Polzeath beach is popular for surfers and families, surrounded by rocky walls, surfing lessons are available as well as a good selection of refreshment. Daymer Bay has calm waters, ideal for children and at low tide it is about a mile long. As it is in an Area of Outstanding Beauty not only will you be amazed at the stunning scenery, but you can lie back and listen to the sound of wading birds. The beach is surrounded by dunes making it feel secluded. You can hire a boat, try windsurfing and book lessons whilst you are on holiday, or for the more sedate, catch the foot ferry across to Padstow for the day and catch a water taxi back after dark.
There are plenty of scenic walks along the Southwest Coast Path as well as some excellent cycling routes. Why not hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail from Padstow to Wadebridge and back? Sheltered waters in the estuary make Rock the perfect location for water sports and fishing all year round. Explore further afield - Port Isaac, the fictional village Portwenn of Doc Martin, and Port Quin are popular and you can walk between the two. The owner can provide two fold up bikes or e-bikes on request. Whatever you choose to do, you will want to book again. Pub within a mile.
