There are walks straight from the door and the Coed y Brenin Forest Park is close by, with tumbling waterfalls and leafy paths, and with cycle hire available.
It is just 3 miles to the pretty town of Dolgellau, offering a range of places to eat and drink. Dolgellau is also the starting point of the Mawddach Trail, a level 9 mile walk along the old railway line to Barmouth. The large sandy beach at Barmouth is well worth a visit – don’t forget your bucket and spade! In the other direction is Bala home to the largest natural lake in Wales, and the Bala Lake Railway, offering a memorable journey by steam train along the lake shore. Beach 11 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
