Located within a Grade II listed building, this lovely apartment offers a modern home from home feel, and has been converted from former country house dating back to the 1800s. The spacious, open plan living area enjoys views over the Esk Valley countryside, while the master bedroom boasts a kingsize bed complete with a TV for those lazy mornings. There is also a second bedroom with a bunk bed for the children, and convenient parking within the grounds. The beautiful village of Sleights is surrounded by fantastic countryside walks including a route to Whitby passing through the picturesque, riverside village of Ruswarp and the Cinder Track. Sleights has two traditional pubs, both serving food and offering a warm welcome, as well as a local butcher and tea room. Steam trains pass through the village throughout the year, with a service that takes you to the nearby town of Whitby, and there is a regular bus service too.
There is plenty for nature lovers to see and do right on your doorstep, with countryside tracks and stunning scenery such as waterfalls making this a perfect base for hikers and bikers. Whitby is popular all year round with its many festivals and events, such as the famous bi-annual Goth Weekend, folk week and a regatta. Whitby is also home to Whitby Abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Cobbled streets are filled with independent traders offering many quirky handcrafted goods, live music and a myriad of places to eat, from delis to bistros, traditional fare to award-winning fish and chips. There are many hidden gems dotted along the coastline and an abundance of welcoming Yorkshire villages such as Grosmont and Goathland, made famous by the TV series, Heartbeat. Pickering, Scarborough and York are all well worth a visit and offer a wide variety of attractions. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
