You may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife which were re-introduced to the area, including water voles and ospreys.
The area is perfect for exploring a little further afield, perhaps over to the Scottish Borders, or Hadrian’s Wall country or even over to the stunning heritage coast. The skies here are darker than anywhere in the country, so star gazing is immensely popular with the observatory well worth a visit, but be sure to book first. Fishing on the 2000-acre water is perfect, and you can hire a boat if you want to try different spots.
