Clarsach is a luxurious timber-clad holiday home in Big Sand on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. Put simply, holiday homes don’t really get better than this. Situated in an elevated position this new architecturally designed holiday home enjoys the most incredible views. As well as looking down over the Big Sand beach, Longa Island and Loch Gairloch, you can see mountains on the horizon, including the Munros of the Torridon range. As soon as you turn the corner and see Big Sand Clarsach stands out up on the hill. It’s a striking build and exactly what you want from a holiday home when up in the Highlands. Pulling up at the house you’re struck by the setting and the view. However, arguably, and strangely, the view gets better from within Clarsach.
Entering the main door at the rear of the property, you walk through a vestibule area with plenty of space for coats and boots, and ahead of you the views are framed by both the doorway through to the open plan living space and by the wall of glass on one side of the living space. It’s beautiful, clever design that you will be taken aback by throughout your entire stay. The open-plan living area is outstanding. At one end there’s a comfy living room with huge Smart TV and a woodburner with two armchairs beside it. The armchairs revolve/spin, so you can look out at the views or back to the TV, at your will. The dining space is very pleasing on the eye as it creates a wonderful leading line from the hallway to the wall of glass and the views. The table is central in the open plan living area and its spacious with two more seats than necessary. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook up a storm after long days out on the beach or in the hills exploring. There’s a utility room just across the hallway with washing machine and tumble dryer.
There are three lovely bedrooms at Clarsach. The master suite has a glorious slim portrait window affording views from the bed out to the beach, the sea and the mountains. The room is very spacious and has an armchair, wall-mounted Smart TV and a writing desk; and the en-suite has a large walk-in shower. There’s another double bedroom with armchair and writing desk which enjoys a lot of natural light and great views. The third bedroom is a twin with 2ft 6in beds, that can be linked together to create a king size bed if needed. The family bathroom is spacious and has a shower over bath. Outside the property there’s a garage with a games room attached to it. The garage can be used to store sports equipment. The games room is a fantastic space with Smart TV, PlayStation 5 and lots of other games to enjoy. The feature wall map in the games room is a highlight as well.
The enclosed garden is mainly laid to lawn and it wraps around the entire property. To the front of Clarsach there’s a small decking area and then a patio with garden furniture. It’s a spectacular outside space because of the unbelievable views that can be enjoyed at any time of the year and during both the day and night. Many will want to come in the summer, and that’s a fantastic choice, but the winter brings possibly more beauty in the Highlands. Snowy mountains, golden hues from a low sun, and cold, clear nights afford not only amazing star gazing -and it really is amazing in this Dark Sky spot- but also the chance to see the dancing Northern Lights.
