This lovely, detached property enjoys an elevated and enviable setting towards the southern end of South Ronaldsay in Orkney. South Ronaldsay is one of the southern islands and is connected to the mainland by the famous Churchill Causeways. Accessed by a rough track, Egypt got its unusual name from a small stream ’The Nile’ that ran down the hill - and the locals used to say ’crossing the Nile to Egypt’! Egypt has been tastefully furnished and equipped to a very good standard and makes an excellent base for exploring the many delights Orkney has to offer.
The nearest village St Margaret’s Hope is 4 miles away and has good local amenities. The main town of Kirkwall is 30 minutes drive away where you can find a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, museums and historical sites including the stunning St Magnus Cathedral. You can take a tour around the Highland Park and Scapa distilleries and sample their whisky!
Nature lovers will be drawn to Orkney with its pristine beaches, spectacular cliffs and marshes which are home to many species of bird and wildlife.
