The rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds has views that seem to go on forever, field after field with fantastic wildlife. There are chances you will see boxing hares or deer first thing in the morning. This is a fantastic place for a walking holiday, with the Wolds Way not far from the cottage which is a 79-mile walk that leaves Hessle and finishes in Filey. The walk takes you through the stunning Yorkshire countryside calling at quaint villages for refreshments. Cyclists too will find many interesting and enjoyable routes. The Wolds is also famous for the David Hockney paintings and where he found inspiration for most of his work. The coast is only a 20-minute drive away, within 11 to 13 miles of the east coast resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. Visit the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington with its working harbour and local attractions such as the Spa Theatre and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, or further north is Flamborough Head, Filey and Scarborough, all great family resorts. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a short drive away where you’ll find puffins in their natural habitat. If you fancy some shopping, the walled city of York is less than a 1-hour drive away. As well as shops, there are several museums, and of course the minster which is the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. For those who prefer countryside pursuits, try some trout fishing at Driffield, or further along the road there is the Cottondale shooting ground. Beach 11 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
Elm Tree Cottage at Cottage Farm can be booked together with Willow Tree Cottage at Cottage Farm (UKC52) to accommodate up to 7 guests.
