A fine romantic getaway for those wishing to explore the Highlands and enjoy the close proximity of Loch Torridon.
Fearnmore Church is a very special holiday cottage. Set in possibly the best location of the Scottish Highlands in Applecross. The small crofting community of Fearnmore is a delight with views across the sea to Skye one way and the towering Torridon mountain range the other. The church is nestled in its own 21 acre wild croft that rolls down from the property to the shores of Loch Torridon. It’s a wildlife spotters dream with dolphin, porpoise, white tailed eagles, otter and a resident pine marten.
The cottage itself is tucked away in a little copse of trees a few steps down from the very quiet Applecross peninsula road. It immediately has a hideaway and wonderfully private feel with no other buildings in sight. Entering the property you’re immediately struck with the quality of the interior finish. It’s very well thought out through both the design and furnishings. From the front door you walk along a hallway with utilities tucked away in one of the cupboards. The hallway leads you to the centrepiece vaulted ceiling living room complete with open fire and a chaise longues positioned perfectly in front of the huge window framing the Torridon range. The living room is spacious and very comfortable with a television, open fire and unrivalled view of the Highlands to enjoy. There isn’t a more perfect room to devour a series of books. The vaulted ceiling reveals the mezzanine master double bedroom which has multiple windows in the roof, the space and light makes for a very relaxing space in the bedroom. Before ascending to the bedroom though you will want to explore the rest of the property. There’s a beautiful bathroom complete with bath and a separate shower cubicle, as well as a magnificent view. And beyond the bathroom the spacious kitchen/dining room. It’s a characterful farmhouse kitchen which again is a pleasure to spend time in cooking those recipes you don’t have time to cook at home, and to sit enjoying your meals at the table with an unsurpassed view. The only issue being that a pine marten may get in the way of the Torridon mountains from time to time!
It’s a romantic cottage that will immediately impress and you’ll honestly want to return again and again. The owner will nip round and welcome you to the peninsula the evening you arrive, and you’ll learn lots about the area to really get you off on the right foot to explore this perfect pocket of Scotland. Once at the cottage you really don’t need to go far to have an exceptional holiday. There are walks galore at every turn, sandy beaches that you’ll have to yourself and Highland cows roaming through the villages. Applecross village is just over 10 miles away too, with its shop, café, inn and restaurant. If you did want to go further afield, Torridon is 40 minutes away and Skye 90 minutes for a day trip. However, Applecross really is the Highlands location you’ve been dreaming about, so you don’t need to leave! You’ll come for a week and want to stay forever. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 13 miles.
