With the back drop of Grange Crags and simply some of Lakeland’s finest surroundings, your time away spent at Field House Bothy will be very relaxing, if not inspiring. The owners freely admit to how lucky they are to live in an area such as Borrowdale. Field House Bothy is part of the once traditional farms that scattered the area. It is built with traditional local slate, but your stay here will be far from basic, with underfloor heating and double-glazing to keep you cosy.
The layout is open plan, with the focus on the views looking down the Borrowdale Valley towards Derwent Water and Cat Bells. With ease of access and wheelchair friendly, the front double doors both open for a wide entrance and once inside, the seating area enjoys warmth from the electric woodburner-effect fire, perfect for sitting and gazing out of the window at the view. A well-equipped kitchen has everything you need, but with five bars and restaurants within a mile of Field House Bothy, you may be easily tempted away. The sleeping area has an electric assisted double bed to alleviate the stress of getting in and out, a bed with a view and a good night’s sleep. Just off the bedroom is a walk in wet room with a power shower to refresh and revive.
There are plenty of accessible walks in and around Keswick. A level walk takes you through Hope Park on the edge of town and along the lake as far as the viewpoint at Friars Crag, whilst at Latrigg there is a small car park at Gale Road above Applethwaite with a Limited Mobility Path to the summit of Latrigg and the viewpoint over Keswick. Trampers are available at Whinlatter Forest from Lake District Mobility which you can hire for a minimal cost to enjoy an amazing 2½ miles of waymarked trails with spectacular views in the forest.
Accessible shops, attractions, outdoor activities and places to eat all display a disabled access logo. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
Field House Bothy (ref UK12571) can be booked together with Field House Lodge (ref UK10978) and Field House Cottage (ref UK12573) to accommodate up to 6 guests.
