Surrounded by mountains, forests and lochs, this is a great bolthole for two in Lower Diabaig, with many great walks and hiking straight from the door.
Mango Pony’s Bothy is a characterful converted farm building in Lower Diabaig. It is an excellent bolthole for walkers, as well as providing extra space for those slightly larger families or groups looking to book Lily Lodge (UK31958) which is situated next door. Mango Pony’s Bothy has been lovingly finished and is simply a great place to spend time relaxing. Its location and vista across Diabaig Bay is truly breathtaking.
Upon entering the bothy you go straight into the open plan living space, which has the living/bedroom area, dining area and kitchen area. This light and spacious room has fabulous views out over the bay to surrounding hills and mountains. There is also a shower room too. Outside there is parking for two cars, and the garden is shared with Lily Lodge, however guests staying at Mango Pony’s Bothy can enjoy their own private patio and seating area to soak up one of Scotland’s best views.
Driving to Diabaig on the west coast of Scotland is one of lifes joys. From whichever direction you are coming from you will have mountains, forests and lochs galore to feast your eyes on. After Torridon, there’s just 9 miles to Diabaig where the bothy awaits pride of place. Arriving into the hamlet of Upper and Lower Diabaig you’ll be taken aback that the road has been trumped. This amazing settlement of crofts and cottages terraced around the bay has a historic curved pier as its centrepiece all surrounded by rocky, imposing hills. Staying at Mango Pony’s Bothy means you’ll be able to soak in the Diabaig setting and you won’t want to leave. Diabaig is such a special place to be that most will be content in simply savouring it whilst on holiday, but for those that want to venture out, there is so much close by. Hiking is high on the agenda for most that visit the area, as Torridon is just down the road. There are walks and hikes all over this part of Wester Ross. The Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve on the southern shores of Loch Maree is within easy reach. Beyond Torridon and Loch Maree you have Gairloch to the north with its lovely neighbouring villages, and to the south there is the amazing Applecross Peninsula and world-famous Isle of Skye. Shop 9 miles, pub 11 miles and restaurant 500 yards.
Mango Pony’s Bothy can be booked together with Lily Lodge (ref UK31958) to accommodate upto 12 guests.
