The charming village of Thornton Le Dale is a delight - old fashioned friendliness with an unhurried pace of life. The village has everything you could need, two pubs serving food and county beers on draft, a fish and chip shop, and artisan pizzeria, yet still retains its quaint village beauty, with the chocolate box thatched cottages and Almshouses. The tranquil Thornton Beck meanders through the village and flows outside the front of the cottage. The village pond is always popular with children feeding the ducks. On the village green there’s the original stocks and market cross where on Sundays during the summer months local bands plays music to entertain you whilst you sit back and enjoy one of the wonderful ice creams the village is renowned for.
Only a couple of miles away is the traditional Yorkshire market town of Pickering, which combines atmospheric old inns, 12th-century castle, museum and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway taking visitors on a nostalgic steam train journey through the spectacular heather-clad moorland scenery.
