Tucked away from the North Coast 500 and near to lovely Dornoch, Fourpenny Cottage is a fantastic place to stay in Skelbo. Enjoying views across surrounding fields and out to sea, you can also spot lovely Littleferry at the mouth of Loch Fleet and can see right up the north east coast of Scotland. It’s a place to switch off, unwind and recharge. Skelbo is essentially a hamlet, and it has lovely walks that you’ll have pretty much to yourself. Wander the Fourpenny Woods, explore the Coul Links sand dunes, and stroll the vast Embo Sands. All of this within a mile. It’s a delightful spot and staying at Fourpenny Cottage you’re perfectly placed to explore at will.
Beyond Skelbo, Dornoch is a few minutes drive away. A lovely place with excellent food and drink options, a rich history and many places to visit to understand it, and of course another outstanding beach. It has a rather famous golf course too, Royal Dornoch Golf Course, those inclined better book a tee time in advance. There are other hidden gems golf courses nearby though in Tain, Golspie and Brora. Fourpenny Cottage is in fact an outstanding spot to base yourself for a golf holiday. With the North Coast 500 only a couple of miles away you can easily be off exploring so much of this amazing area. Not only can you swiftly be visiting the coastal villages up the north east coast towards John O’Groats, but you can take advantage of the interior roads across the Northern Highlands to visit the north and west coasts. Everywhere is within easy day-trip distance.
Albeit a little dated, the cottage is a great space for families or friends to spend a week in the Highlands. Entering the back door you have three bedrooms on the ground floor. A kingsize double and two twin, all have en-suite shower rooms. Ascending to the first floor the living spaces can be found and you can see why, to make the most of the tremendous views. The kitchen/dining room is a great space with a lovely big table for everyone to gather round and enjoy the place. The living room is cavernous with all the space the family needs. And at the far end of the property is another kingsize double bedroom with en-suite shower room that enjoys views to the east across fields to the open sea. Beach 1 mile.
Fourpenny Cottage can be booked together with Fourpenny Studio (UK34745) to accommodate up to 10 guests.
