Glenkens Lodge is a unique choice for a memorable holiday or romantic break for a special occasion, or just to spend some quality time together. Offering an open plan living space and again all designed by the owners with a fully equipped kitchen area, a cosy and comfortable bed with quality linen and en-suite modern shower room. Cosy up in front of the wood burner or sit on the veranda, sheltered by an overhanging roof, where you can marvel at the truly dark starry skies.
Tucked away in the peace and tranquillity of the Glenkens hills there is another world away from Glenkens Lodge, and this prime location affords you easy access to the local area. Just along the road, Dalry is a small village with a local convenience store and you will also find a lovely pub and restaurant with log fires and delicious food. Set amidst some of the most stunning countryside you have access to wonderful walks, including the Southern Upland Way, a coast-to-coast path which passes through Dalry. With many quiet country lanes, cycling is a pleasure and a great way to see the amazing countryside, and for the adventurous cyclists there are several of the world famous 7stanes mountain bike tracks all within easy reach. The area is well recognised for its clear skies and is one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world, and the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.
A short drive will take you to the bustling market town of Castle Douglas, where you will find many independent little shops selling anything from delicious cakes and artisan food to jewellery and clothes. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants to choose from too. This unspoilt area of southwest Scotland offers magnificent scenery, fine sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. There are also many traditional fishing villages and harbour ports where you can wander round while taking in the sea air.
