Step back in time with a stay at this charming traditional stone-built fisherman’s cottage in Cairnbulg, Fraserburgh. Built-in the early 1900s, this cosy retreat comfortably sleeps four guests, offering a unique blend of historical charm and modern comfort. The cottage is beautifully furnished with antique furniture and complemented with period-correct colour schemes from Mylands Paints of London, renowned for their work in the UK film industry, including sets for James Bond, Harry Potter and many more. The wood surrounds and doors are original from when the house was built over 100 years ago, adding to the authentic and nostalgic atmosphere.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Cairnbulg, the cottage is just a stone’s throw from the stunning coastline. Enjoy leisurely walks along the Cairnbulg harbour or explore the sandy beaches and rock pools nearby. For the keen golfer, Inverallochy Golf Club formed in 1884, which boasts sea views from every hole, is just a 5-minute walk. Maggies Hoosie, built in the mid-18th century and situated in the village which will take you back to a time before the advent of running water and electricity, is a representation of the life of the fisherfolk who lived there. Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum offers fascinating insights into the area’s maritime history and is a must-visit for history buffs. Nature enthusiasts will love the RSPB Loch of Strathbeg, a short drive away, where they can observe a variety of bird species in their natural habitat.
For those seeking adventure, Fraserburgh Beach offers opportunities for various water sports. Fraserburgh town, with its array of shops, cafés, and restaurants, is easily accessible. The scenic Aberdeenshire Coastal Trail provides breathtaking views and the chance to explore quaint fishing villages, whisky and castle trails. This historic fisherman’s cottage in Cairnbulg is a 5-minute detour from the North East 250 road trip route, where you can recharge in luxury as it offers a perfect blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities, making it an ideal getaway for a small family or a couples retreat.
