Situated in the village of Whiting Bay with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a useful range of small independent shops. Local amenities include Arran Art gallery with a pretty courtyard garden, a golf course, pitch and putt, and community activities throughout the season. A family-friendly forestry trail leads to the spectacular Glenashdale Falls and the prehistoric Giant’s Graves.
For refreshments, the local cafés offer a vibrant spots for morning coffee and a tasty bite. There is a local bar at Eden Lodge is in walking distance. The nearby village of Lamlash provides safe anchorage for visiting yachts and the pier is a hub of activity. For a unique experience, take a small ferry over to the Holy Isle and you will discover a friendly Buddhist community, where animals roam freely, including Saanen goats and Eriskay ponies. Lamlash Bay also offers sea kayaking and powerboat trips, so you can explore the bay at your own pace.
Wildlife is in abundance throughout the island, including sunbathing seals, red deer and red squirrels, and you can take a boat trip to see minke whales, dolphins, and porpoises. The island of Arran is always referred to as Scotland in miniature with a landscape of rolling green hills, spectacular sea views and stunning mountain vistas. Arran truly has something for everyone from the impressive Brodick Castle and Gardens, a tour round the Arran Distillery or a visit to the cheese shop and Arran Aromatics. A ferry can be taken from Lochranza to Claonaig to explore the Kintyre Peninsula.
