This delightful stone Victorian house which was built in 1861, has a wealth of original features and stunning views of surrounding countryside. Completely renovated in 2020 Grosmont Villa offers spacious rooms, terraces and gardens. Set over three floors, this is a perfect property for the larger family or two families wishing to share. This country retreat is perfect for the avid walker and lovers of the ’Heartbeat’ countryside and is on the Coast-to-Coast Walk and part of the Wainwright Way.

The villa, set within 6 acres of private woodlands and is very secluded, although near the village centre. The terraced garden overlooks an Esk Valley with fields and tree covered landscape and forms a sheltered area to enjoy eating out on the large picnic bench. The driveway is large and can easily accommodate five cars. The ground floor has a traditional Victorian tiled hall leading to a morning/sitting room and the living room. There is a large kitchen/dining room which leads to a utility room and separate toilet. The kitchen is designed in a french-style, which is fully-equipped with an Aga and a large dining table with original floor flagstones. The two reception rooms comprise of a south-facing morning/sitting room with wood burner and sofas. The cosy living room has leather seating and a Jotul wood burner set in a white marble fireplace. There are three bedrooms on the first floor each containing their own en-suite. There are two further bedrooms on the second floor, as well as a bathroom.

Grosmont is a lively village famous for its steam trains on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The local pub is just 5 minutes walk from the villa, serves excellent beer and home cooked food which can be enjoyed outside while savouring the ambience. There are cafés which serve coffee, snacks and wholesome lunches creating a friendly atmosphere in the village and there is also an art gallery. Steam trains weave their way across the moors from Pickering to Whitby stopping at picturesque villages en route. Dalby Forest which has excellent walking and cycling trails as well as a tree top zipline is 10 miles away and less than 7 miles away you have Whitby, a historic fishing port with excellent award winning seafood restaurants. Various popular events take place throughout the year such as Whitby Regatta Week, Whitby Folk Week Festival as well as the Goth Weekends. Also the famous October War Weekend centred mainly in Grosmont, and Pickering. The television series ’Heartbeat’ village of Adensfield (Goathland) is 3 miles away in the next valley. A train journey in the film ’Harry Potter’ was made at Grosmont. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains have childrens’ special events featuring ’Thomas the Tank Engine’ characters and also special dining events including ’murder mystery’ games. Various Vintage Vehicles, Steam and Diesel Galas, Swinging 60’s and War Weekends April - October. For children you have Flamingoland, Alpamare Water Park and The Sea Life Centre all within a 40-minute drive. This is a fabulous destination all year round. Beach 6.5 miles.
