Only a mile from the popular village of Drumnadrochit, a holiday in Heron’s Rest Cottage can be as relaxing or action packed as you wish. The name Heron’s Rest relates to the resident Heron which can regularly be seen in the river, just a short stroll from the cottage where there is also a seating area to admire the view and catch a glimpse of the wildlife. Drumnadrochit is set on the shores of Loch Ness and at the head of Urquhart Bay, and has a good selection of shops and places to eat. The village also boasts to be the home of the official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition, or you can explore the ruins of historic Urquhart Castle.

Inverness, the Highland Capital, is only 14 miles away where you will find a large variety of shops, fine restaurants, pubs, a theatre, museums and galleries.

Amongst the many activities available locally are boats trips, water sports and sea fishing along the Moray coastline or on Loch Ness, good monster spotting area! The area is a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast, with mountain biking, walking along the many forest trails, kayaking on the rivers and lochs, and photography, with a huge abundance of bird and wildlife on the doorstep. For the less energetic, sit back, relax and enjoy this peaceful setting, where happy memories of your Highland holiday will be made. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
