Hillside Cottage is a traditional whitewashed cottage situated amidst open countryside in the crofting hamlet of Sheigra on the stunning North West Highland coast. This attractive croft cottage is set in around 4 acres of grounds and enjoys stunning views to the sea and the surrounding open countryside. Set in a very quiet location amidst superb scenery, it offers peace and tranquillity and is ideal for a real get away from it all holiday. On the ground floor is a pretty cottage lounge, a small but well-equipped kitchen and a double bedroom. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and a modern bathroom with bath and shower over. With thick stone walls and cosy cottage ambience, it has been modernised and refurbished in recent months whilst retaining its original charm; it provides a good standard of accommodation in a wonderful setting.
The immediate area is heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and lovers of the great outdoors generally. Hill-walking, climbing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing are all local sports. There is a thriving pony trekking centre in the village, with rides amidst spectacular scenery. Fishing in the surrounding lochs and rivers as well as sea fishing is a popular pastime. The area is also a haven for wildlife, with seals and otters in the bay and numerous varieties of birds attracted to the region. The beaches in this area are renowned. Sandwood bay is particularly noted, with a wonderful walk across the machair to its secluded sweeping sands. Sheigra bay is about 500 yards away from the cottage and Polin and Oldmoreshore are also close by. Kinlochbervie is the nearest main village. The most northerly port on the west coast of Scotland, this pretty village has an active working harbour and offers good local facilities, including a shop and post office, as well as a hotel with restaurant open all year to non-residents for meals.
