Pretty stone cottage set in open countryside
This pretty stone holiday cottage is set in a row of three on a quiet road overlooking open countryside on the Heritage coastal route midway between Alnwick and Seahouses, 3 miles from Embleton. The property is furnished and equipped to provide traditional, comfortable holiday accommodation. Guests are welcome to roam the owner’s farmland with its many bridle walks. Practically on the doorstep of your cottage you have the coast with its long, silver beaches complemented by striking castles. Craster is a picturesque fishing village with the most delicious kippers and the walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is a short drive away, as are Alnmouth and Alnwick, with Europe’s largest water garden and the magnificent 11th-century castle. Seahouses, a bustling harbour seaside resort, is only 10 minutes and a great place to start with fishing trips and ferries to the Farne Islands to see the bird and seal colonies, organised by a number of companies. The coastline is peppered with small fishing villages, and inland you have the hills and forests. Both sea and river fishing are in abundance in Northumerland. You can also fish at Alnmouth beach without a licence or head up along the River Aln for salmon fishing. There are numerous lake fisheries too - the primary ones being at Caiston, Fontburn and Felton Frence, all providing tuition and equipment hire. A beautiful region of unspoilt coast and rural landscapes. Shops and pubs 1½ miles.
