Once a barn with an adjoined pigsty, this has been lovingly transformed into a characterful cottage, with exposed sandstone walls and fabulous rural views. Welcoming guests on a one of a kind stay in the Yorkshire countryside. With your own private driveway, Ivylea Barn has a garden which neighbours a field; you will have friendly, inquisitive sheep as your neighbours, with the vast expanse of countryside beyond. Due to the direction of the garden, you are bathed in sunlight for most of the day, perfect for enjoying a glass of something special out on the stone-flagged patio as you soak up the scenery.
Stepping inside through the stable door, you are welcomed into the kitchen which is open plan with the dining area; floor to ceiling windows make the most of the incredible views. The kitchen is cleverly laid out with everything you could desire to create romantic meals to share. Stepping into the living room, this room has a high vaulted ceiling with the golden sandstone bare wall an eye-catching feature. Unwind with your loved one on a relaxing evening on the cosy sofa in front of the TV. The bedroom also boasts high vaulted ceilings above the kingsize bed, there is a built-in wardrobe as well as a clever in built dressing table in this room, plus the beautifully presented en-suite shower. The property is all on one level throughout.
Glaisdale is a quaint, picturesque village on the edge of the National Park, offering miles of tumbling hills of heather and ancient woodlands. In Glaisdale, you have a small village shop as well as a tea room. There are some wonderful rural pubs serving hearty home cooked meals in the surrounding villages, the perfect reward after a hike or cycle. If you wish to enjoy the great outdoors, you are in the perfect location. The coastline from Saltburn-by-the-Sea to Filey is a place of rugged beauty, with many isolated fishing villages such as Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay all just a short drive away. Out on the moors are the scenic villages of Hutton Le Hole, Thornton le Dale or Helmsley, with its castle and gardens all waiting to be explored. The property is situated just 11 miles from the coastal town of Whitby, with its year round events and festivals such as the Goth Weekend and the Steampunk Weekend.
Famous for its link to Dracula, the abbey and its award winning fish and chips, Whitby has something for everyone. For something a bit different, you can take a steam train journey into ‘Heartbeat’ country Goathland, or head out to sea from Whitby on a boat trip, where you could see seals and whales. Ride on horseback, glide over the sea on a paddleboard, or even fly through the tree tops on a zip wire – there are lots of outdoor activities all within an hour’s drive. Out in the national park, the skies are illuminated by millions of stars, ensure you take a moment to gaze out at the sky on a clear night. This is a stunning rural location all year round.
