Located in the centre of the delightful conservation village of Falkland next to the historic Falkland Place, Key House is just perfect for friends and families to spend time together. Whether looking for a relaxing break or an adventure holiday you are in the perfect location. With it historic buildings and quaint alleys Falkland is a great place to explore and there are plenty of places to have a coffee or meal and some interesting shops. Ideally located for exploring the local area and beyond, enjoy a day at the seaside, the wide sandy beaches and rocky headlands of the East Neuk of Fife are within 30 minutes’ drive. Walkers will love the Coastal Trail which takes you along the shore to old fishing villages with fabulous coastal views. Ideal for foodies with Michelin starred restaurants complemented by award winning fish and chip shops, as well as numerous farm shops and farmers markets showcasing the best produce Fife and Scotland has to offer.
For days out Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh are all within easy reach and the local railway station has regular links to all the major cities. Dating back to 1713 and despite its historic origins, Key House is well designed for modern life and has been refurbished sensitively as befits its category B listed status. Originally called the Palace Inn there is an interesting back storey, above the front door the marriage lintel bears the initial TM and KK which could be the builder and his wife. It is also possible that the cottage was built from the stone from the palace and there are several mentions in old records of events and incidents such as 1890 the architect William Frame got the sack for being drunk there. Over the centuries it has served as a home for estate workers and records show that in 1954 the house was restored. Key House provides the perfect holiday retreat from which to enjoy an abundance of interests and scenic splendour with which this area is blessed at all times of the year. Beach 21 miles.
