Derwent is a quirky shepherd’s hut offering something a little different. It’s compact, lovingly furnished and has all the essentials you could want for a comfortable glamping experience.
The hut features a double bed, a compact dining area with stools, and a modern kitchenette complete with a two-ring hob, fridge, microwave and enough storage and workspace to prepare a meal for two. Derwent is spacious enough to feature a fully fitted shower room, so there’s is no compromise on comfort.
A wonderful feature of this shepherd’s hut is its picture window, from which you can enjoy views of rolling grassland, hillsides and even a glimpse of Derwent Water in the distance. Situated adjacent to the owners’ home on their working beef and sheep farm, you are surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Northern Lake District Fells, with Catbells and Latrigg to the front, and the imposing view of Skiddaw Mountain to the rear. Outside is a private outdoor seating area where you can soak up the morning sun, as well as private parking and access to some great local walks, wildlife and cycle routes.
There are a number of eateries just a short drive away, and a local pub 1¾ miles away - a 5-minute taxi ride, or a 30-minute walk taking in the sights of the surrounding fells as well as some of the amazing wildlife including buzzards, kestrels and, of course, red squirrels. Derwent shepherd’s hut is just 2 miles from the bustling town centre of Keswick, brimming with a great selection of bars, shops, restaurants, nightlife, independent boutiques, a great local market and plenty of days out and activities to enjoy. This traditional market town has lots to discover with its many little streets and courtyards.
Keswick is also home to The Derwent Pencil Museum, where the largest pencil in the world can be found. For lovers of culture, The Theatre by the Lake offers a stunning lakeside location and award-winning arts and drama. Water sports are available on Derwent Water, and if you enjoy outdoor adventure including walking, cycling and climbing you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes.
