Lake View Yurts is a family friendly, self-catering, locally handmade and fully insulated yurt set on the tranquil Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset border. An easy amble across a small paddock and down towards the lake, our yurt is a 3-minute walk from the car park through a small paddock. Risen on a wooden platform, a comfy double bed and double sofa bed make ample sleeping for four, whilst outside you will find a gas BBQ, large picnic table and a chimenea. Housed in our lovingly recycled shed and set back in the privacy of the trees just 10 metres from our yurt, you will find an eco (compost) toilet, an inside and outside sink, an electric shower with eco-soap and shampoo provided, all for your sole use. Our handmade wood-burner (with a basket of logs provided, with extra available to purchase) will keep you toasty warm whilst tea, coffee and milk is provided along with a fridge, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Mains electric means you can keep devices charged too whilst being able to pop the kettle on for that all important cup of tea.
Along with the owners’ dogs, small flocks of rare breed Castlemilk, Moorit and Balwen sheep, including their friendly lambs Chilli and Kiwi, plus our pet pigs and two alpacas, we will all be here to greet you! The owners live on site so are never too far away should you need anything during your stay. As it is a working small-holding, farm machinery may be on the move in the yard where car parking is located. Please note that the short amble from the car park to our yurt is via the paddock where our pigs live (who can easily be moved if you would rather they were out of the way on your arrival and departure). We recommend bringing wellies, walking boots or trainers that you do not mind getting dirty!
Lake View Yurts is close to the picturesque towns of Mere, Shaftesbury and Sherborne, 45 minutes from the Roman city of Bath and medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, with the Jurassic coast just an hour away. Lake View Yurt is surrounded by stunning walks, fabulous pubs and wonderful local produce.
