The popular tourist hotspot of Ambleside has an abundance of shops, bars, restaurants, cafés and coffee houses. For touring by car or exploring the Lakes, the A593 leads you effortlessly to Ambleside on the northern shore of Lake Windermere then continue south to take in Bowness-on-Windermere and Kendal or north through Rydal and Grasmere to Keswick and Derwentwater. The Lake District’s third largest lake, Coniston, lies a just short way to the south, and most of the best known Lake District locations are within easy reach from this central base. Beach 30 miles.
