A visit to the stunning English Heritage Audley End House is a must and there are many concerts held there on the summer, you can also hop on a train to London for the theatre or retail therapy. This area of north Essex is famous for its country setting and is often referred to as ‘Essex’s Best Kept Secret’. You’ll be able to benefit from long walks, nature reserves, swimming baths, cobbled streets, listed buildings and architecture, as well as much more.
Do you want to get out and explore? A 25-minute drive will take you to Bishops Stortford, Stansted Mountfichet Castle or the glorious village green and duck pond at Finchingfield. A little further and you can be in Great Dunmow. The city of Cambridge can be easily reached, being only 15 miles away. Here you can enjoy a city of culture, numerous shops, restaurants and pubs, museums, Botanical Gardens and even a spot of punting on the River Cam. A visit to the historic town of Colchester has something for everyone, including a castle, museums, cinema, theatres, leisure centre and the famous Colchester Zoo.
