Maari is situated in the hamlet of Ahmor in North Uist, it is a small crofting township and can be reached by travelling to Lochmaddy from Uig, Skye, or to Lochboisdale on South Uist from Oban.
Maari is a lovely detached house with three bedrooms - one double en-suite on the ground floor and a further double and twin room on the first floor. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor together with a toilet situated at the back door, too. The living room has a wood burner for you to enjoy at the end of a busy day, and the kitchen is well-equipped, and also has a dining table. Parking for three cars is available at the back of the house and the gardens are enclosed.
For golden sands, you can drive for 10 minutes and you will reach Clachan Sands. As well as many beaches in North Uist there is also an RSPB Bird Sanctuary close by. If you enjoy cycling, the Hebridean Way Cycle Route 780 goes by the cottage, and many runners enjoy this route. Other attractions to see near Ahmor include visiting the ruins of the Trinity Temple in Carinish, going for a nice walk at Traigh lar beach, seeing the ruins of the Iron Age fort at Dun an Sticir, or visiting the exhibitions at Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy.
North Uist is the perfect base to visit Benbecula, South Uist, Barra and going north over to Harris (some ferries are involved). The Outer Isles are very much unspoilt and the beautiful beaches can rival any of the Mediterranean beaches.
