Melness Cottage is a traditional croft cottage situated in a stunning location with panoramic views across the Kyle of Tongue. This detached two storey cottage is situated in the quiet hamlet of Skinnet in North West Sutherland. Just a short walk from the sea and surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, awe inspiring beaches and pretty harbour villages, the cottage provides an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful and totally unspoilt region. The cottage has been upgraded and refurbished whilst retaining its original charm. There is a cosy lounge, a separate dining room and a small but well equipped kitchen. On the first floor are two good sized bedrooms and a bright, modern family bathroom. The views across the bay with the mountains beyond are simply stunning. There is a large garden, mainly laid to lawn, bounded by an original low stone wall. Whilst this far North West coastline seems wild and remote, there is a good selection of amenities and facilities in the immediate area. There is also a local bar and restaurant just 1/2 mile from the cottage. Perched on a promontory overlooking the magnificent Kyle of Tongue, the nearby village of Tongue enjoys spectacular views across the sea, with the mountains of Ben Hope and Ben Loyal in the distance. The village has a good selection of local amenities including a general store, two hotels with restaurants, post office, petrol station, craft shops and village church. There is a slipway and harbour for small boats within a mile of the property. As a note of caution the cottage does have a steep staircase which is common in these cottages.
