Mill Cottage is a lovely little converted flour mill in the village of Aveton Gifford, 4 miles from Kingsbridge. The property has parking directly outside as well as a great, private south-facing sitting terrace overlooking the mill pond. The rear gardens which are also used by the owners are very beautiful with various areas and seating, and are great for a stroll by the mill stream to see the hens in the garden and the ducks in the orchard.
The village, with a pub, village green, shop, tennis courts and church, is just a short walk away as is the tidal road along the river, a haven for wildlife, particularly sea birds. Beautiful sandy beaches at Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea are only 4½ miles away, with access to the famous South West Coastal Paths. From Bigbury-on-Sea you can walk across the causeway (at low tide) to Burgh Island - there is a sea-tractor to bring you back, if you stay too long on the island!
The area is a walker’s paradise, with several local walks, including the Avon Estuary Walk, directly accessible from Mill Cottage. Plymouth is 17 miles to the west and Salcombe only 7 miles away. Spend a day in Totnes or Dartmouth, or access Dartmoor in half an hour. Beach 4½ miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 175 yards.
