Mocktree Barns (Stable Cottage refs W43670, which is semi-detached, and Jinney Ring ref W43671, which is terraced) are located on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border in the heart of historic Mortimer Country yet are only 7 miles from the splendid medieval market town of Ludlow. The Welsh Borderlands are close making it an ideal opportunity to explore three counties. Once a set of farm buildings, these holiday properties have been converted to provide distinctive and individually furnished cottages situated around a south-facing courtyard. The owners live on site and are actively involved in promoting green tourism and garden organically. Guests are welcome to enjoy the wildlife-friendly gardens and relax in the courtyard which has tables and chairs for eating outdoors in summer. Whatever the season, there is plenty to do. There are great opportunities for walkers and nature lovers as well as for anglers, bird watchers, golfers and geologists. Public rights of way are there for you to walk through the woods and the fields, explore the quiet valleys and lanes and climb to the tops of the hills to marvel at the views; Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd, Clee Hill, the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding National Beauty, the Teme Valley, Mortimer Forest and Offas Dyke Path are all close by. Interesting towns to visit include Church Stretton, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Leominster, Much Wenlock and Tenbury Wells, as well as historic Ironbridge an easy drive away. Local attractions include the racecourse and castle at Ludlow, Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Acton Scott Working Farm, Stokesay Castle, and the four National Trust properties of Powys Castle, Attingham Park, Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ mile.
