Right in the heart of Coniston in The lake District National Park, this spacious apartment over two floors offers a superb location and views across to the Old Man of Coniston. Located above a craft shop on the quaint high street of Coniston, Mountain Escape provides the perfect base for families and friends who wish to spend time together in this popular location. The interior design and furnishings offer a contemporary mix of elegance and charm and you have the added bonus of a play room where younger children can happily play, and a study, which is perfect to relax, read or send a few emails. On the first floor, is the living room with views across the village to the Old Man of Coniston, plenty of easy seating and an electric fire, a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room and a twin bedroom with comfortable beds and an en-suite shower. The second floor features three spacious bedrooms with views either to the village or to the garden at the rear. All feature a range of quality furnishings and excellent interior design, one with a super kingsize bed which can be made into twin beds on request, and two kingsize bedrooms.

Thanks to its excellent location there are plenty of local amenities on the doorstep, with a range of village shops including a family butcher and great local inns. A popular inn is just forty yards away and brews the famous Coniston Bluebird Bitter on-site. The Coniston Fells offer endless activities for you to enjoy, whether it’s exploring the beautiful countryside, the panoramic lake views or a challenging climb on foot, cycling through Grizedale Forest or getting out on Coniston Water. Pay a visit to the Ruskin Museum, and just two miles away is Brantwood with beautiful gardens and tea rooms. If you fancy a trip on the lake, the steam yacht gondola gently cruises up and down the lake stopping at various points along the way, an ideal way of exploring the eastern side with secluded beaches, perfect for picnics and wild swimming. Alternatively, you are just 4 miles from Hawkshead where you can wander around the quaint cobbled yards with whitewashed cottages and visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery. You will also find a selection of excellent pubs, an ice cream parlour and even a cat café. The vibrant town of Ambleside is also just 8 miles away with an abundance of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and outdoor clothing shops.

This superb cottage makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful part of the Lake District. The pretty village of Coniston is located at the head of Coniston Water and is surrounded by beautiful scenery in the heart of the Lake District National Park making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Grasmere and Windermere just a short drive away. Excellent walking, climbing and mountain biking are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam. Nearby at Grizedale Forest you’ll find woodland walks and nature trails. If you like watersports the quiet lake is ideal for kayaks and canoeing. Also nearby is Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing. Overall, as the name suggests, this truly is a Mountain Escape!
